Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh | Prime Minister Narendra Modi flags off the RapidX train connecting Sahibabad to Duhai depot, marking the launch of Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in India. This is India’s first RapidX train which will be known as NaMo Bharat.
Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the first corridor of Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in Uttar Pradesh’s Sahibabad and flagged off a RAPIDX, now ‘Namo Bharat’ train from the station.
The priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor will be launched from the Sahibabad RAPIDX station. The prime minister will flag off a RAPIDX train connecting Sahibabad and Duhai Depot, marking the launch of RRTS in India, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said. And this train will be known as “Namo Bharat”.
PM Modi will also address a public rally to mark the occasion and will later inaugurate two stretched of the east-west corridor of the Bengaluru Metro.
All Women Crew, A Symbol of India’s Women Power, Says PM Modi
PM Modi, while citing that India has a tradition of doing auspicious work during Navratri, said that Namo Bharat’s launch has also received the blessings of Mother Katyayani.
He also said that the train’s driver and the entire crew is an all women team, adding that, “This is a symbol of the growing step of women power of India.”
Laying the Foundation, & Inaugurating the Project, We Do Both: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a public rally, after inaugurating the first RRTS train ‘Namo Bharat’, said “We only lay the foundation stone, we only inaugurate it.”
He congratulated everyone on India’s first Regional Rapid Train Service.
PM Modi Inaugurates Two Stretches of Bangalore Metro Via Video Conferencing
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday also inaugurated tow stretches of east-west corridor of Bangalore Metro through a video conference. The Baiyappanahalli to Krishnarajapura, and Kengeri to Challaghatta legs on the Bangalore Metro Purple Line were opened for public service from October 9 without waiting for a formal inauguration.
With this, the total operational length of ‘Namma Metro’ has increased to 74 km with 66 stations, and daily ridership to over 7.5 lakh. Namma Metro is the second largest Metro network in the country.
PM Modi Takes A Ride in RAPIDX, Interacts With Students, Crew
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took a ride in the new RAPIDX after flagging it off from the Sahibabad station. Surrounded by students, he interacted with the kids and the crew of the train as well.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the ‘Namo Bharat’ RRTS train for the Delhi-Meerut corridor from Sahibabad station on Friday. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri were also present at the launch event.
Holiday for Ghaziabad Schools; Admin Asks to Conduct Online Classes
The Uttar Pradesh administration has announced holiday for all the schools in Ghaziabad on Friday, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. The authorities directed the schools to conduct online classes instead.
Traffic Advisory Issued Ahead of PM Modi’s Visit
The Ghaziabad Traffic Police released a traffic advisory ahead of the launch of RRTS by PM Modi. The restrictions will be in place from 7 am on Friday till the end of the programme.
Congress Targets PM Modi Over Naming of RRTS Trains as ‘Namo Bharat’
The Congress on Thursday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over naming the RRTS trains as ‘Namo Bharat’, saying there is “simply no limit to his self-obsession”. Official sources said that the trains of the RRTS — to be inaugurated by PM Modi — will be known as ‘Namo Bharat’.
Reacting to it, Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X, “After Namo stadium now Namo trains. There is simply no limit to his self-obsession.” A cricket stadium in Ahmedabad is named after Prime Minister Modi, another Congress leader, Pawan Khera said, “Why even put Bharat? Just change the name of the country to Namo and be done with it.”
PM Modi to Address Public Rally After Inauguration
Prime Minister Narendra, after the inauguration of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor will also address a public rally to mark the occasion. Following this, PM Modi will also inaugurate two stretches of the east-west corridor of the Bengaluru Metro.
