Procter Sliding Gates (http://www.automatic-electricgates.co.uk) commit to and expertise in safety, and high quality powered gates we manufacture and install are fully compliant with health and safety legislation.
At this particular location we designed, manufactured and installed twin sliding powered gates to allow access for large luxury coaches, a pair of powered swing gates giving access to the customer car park -- and both with access control via keypad, card readers and key-fobs for coach drivers -- plus manual gates and extensive security fencing. All of the gates and fencing were supplied in the customer's branded red and also included their logo on the main gates.
As with any job we carry out, ahead of design and manufacture a full site survey is conducted and this includes a detailed risk assessment taking account factors such as possible entrapment or contact with the leading edge of a gate.
Then ahead of the gates being despatched to site, full testing is carried out in the factory to ensure both safe operation and reliability.
Once installed on site, the gates are commissioned and all safety devices are put through a rigorous test procedure, with a final risk assessment undertaken to ensure any residual risks have been eliminated. Only after this is a CE mark plate attached to the gates, and then the customer is taken through how to operate the gates and provided with a document covering full instructions for use.
An optional safety feature on our sliding gates is a flashing light. This ensures that anyone close-by is alerted to the fact that the gate is moving.
One of the first safety tests we do on all sliding gates the force of the moving gate is set below a specified and safe limit.
With the force level set, when there is contact with the safe-edges fitted to all potential hazard points on the gate, the gate immediately stops and reverses for 2 seconds, ensuring that no person coming into contact with it can be injured.
the safe-edges extend to the full height of the gate up to 2.5metres.
Of course when the safe-edges are not activated, the gates will close fully.
Safe-edges are also fitted at the bottom of the gates, which ensures the gate will again stop and reverse the motion for 2 seconds if it comes into contact with any obstruction such as a person's leg.
The same safe-edge protection is also provided where the gate leaf meets the hanging post, and again ensuring there is no crush hazard for anyone standing in the way.
If the gates are closing while a person or vehicle is passing through and again as per the sliding gates, there are light beams that cover the space between the gates that, when broken, cause the gates to reverse and return to the fully open position. This further safety feature completing a whole range which ensures that Procter sliding and swing gates are entirely safe and fully compliant with safety legislation.
