MetroTV, California declared a state of emergency across six counties after severe flooding triggered deadly mudslides in the southern part of the state.
Footage shows heavy rain flooding parts of Wrightwood in San Bernardino County, with powerful currents damaging buildings and vehicles. Emergency crews were deployed as hundreds of residents became trapped in affected areas.
Local authorities reported that up to 280 people were stranded, while at least two fatalities have been confirmed statewide. The flooding has been worsened in regions previously impacted by the 2024 Bridge and Line wildfires.
California has activated the National Guard and additional emergency resources to assist evacuations as hazardous conditions persist.
