Sliced, crisp apples sprinkled with spices are placed in a buttery pie shell (this dough is great for cobbler, too!) and topped with more buttery pie dough. After baking, the result is sweet, tart, and tender apples swimming in a delicious, gooey sauce surrounded by a crunchy, flaky crust. Top with ice cream for a heavenly dessert everyone will love!

0:24 - Pour all-purpose flour into a food processor.
0:31 - Sprinkle in salt.
0:35 - Add sugar.
0:40 - Cover and pulse.
0:44 - Add in cold butter slices.
0:50 - Add vegetable shortening.
0:56 - Pour in ice water.
1:00 - Cover and pulse until well combined.
1:09 - Flatten the dough into a disk.
1:18 - Divide it into two.
1:22 - Roll each disk into a ball.
1:25 - Cover and refrigerate.
1:33 - Flatten out the dough.
1:42 - Press the dough into a pie pan.
1:51 - Peel the apples.
1:56 - Slice the apples.
2:08 - Drizzle the apples with lemon juice.
2:14 - Sprinkle the apples with sugar.
2:18 - Sprinkle in the spices.
2:27 - Mix until well coated.
2:37 - Sprinkle in cornstarch.
2:40 - Mix well.
2:46 - Add the apples to the pie dish.
2:56 - Add vanilla extract to melted butter.
2:58 - Pour the butter mixture over the apples.
3:03 - Top the apples with pie dough.
3:14 - Beat one egg.
3:19 - Brush the pie crust with the egg.
3:28 - Sprinkle with raw sugar.
3:41 - Bake the pie at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
3:55 - Slice and serve.
