Описание:
The Epic of Gilgamesh is an ancient Mesopotamian epic. Its literary origins can be traced to five Sumerian poems about Gilgamesh, the king of Uruk, some of which may date back to the Third Dynasty of Ur, around 2100 BC. These independent tales later became the foundation for a unified epic written in Akkadian. The earliest surviving version of this combined epic, known as the "Old Babylonian" version, is from the 18th century BC and is titled after its opening line, Shūtur eli sharrī (Surpassing All Other Kings). Only a few tablets from this version have survived. A later, more comprehensive version known as the Standard Babylonian version was compiled by Sîn-lēqi-unninni between the 13th and 10th centuries BC, titled Sha naqba īmuru (He Who Sees the Unknown). Approximately two-thirds of this twelve-tablet version have been recovered, with some of the best-preserved copies found in the ruins of the 7th-century BC library of Assyrian king Ashurbanipal.
This audiobook of the Epic of Gilgamesh is based on the translation by N. K. Sandars.
