ALÓWAN is a new project by Jean Yves Tola, a founding member of 16 HORSEPOWER, the Alternative Country band from Denver, Colorado, which disbanded in 2005. Tola’s arrangements, music and influence in the band were always clearly present through their career. ALÓWAN is a more personal and intimate vision. Following to his debut album “Feathers” on Glitterhouse Records and prior to an upcoming 16 HORSEPOWER tour, ALÒWAN will release a string of singles, Medicine Bow is the first one, more are following soon.

The ballad, accompanied by acoustic guitar and strings, is deep and sensual and captivates with the female/male duet voices of Kal Cahoone and Calvin Dover (of Dover Brothers, who already appeared on the debut album). Kal Cahoone from Denver has her own band Tarantella. Beside that she’s been working in the past with David Eugene Edwards WOVEN HAND as a live keyboardist and for JY Tola she has been singing in his previous project LILIUM.

Surprisingly in 2026 David Eugene Edwards and JY Tola reunited 16 HORSEPOWER for a few concerts in the US and a European tour in May 2026, for which the tickets are selling fast. Some concerts were sold out shortly after being announced.
