Many homeowners find the journey to solar energy complicated, from installation to understanding billing and grid interaction. MP2 Energy tasked us with creating an accessible, educational tool to demystify their residential solar program. Their goal: empower customers by making solar simple, transparent, and predictable.

We brought this story to life with a clean, isometric 3D animation that transforms complex energy flows into clear, digestible visuals. Using Cinema 4D, we built a modular, legible home environment, emphasizing symmetrical layouts and large windows for clear visual staging. Characters, each with distinct colors for MP2, installers, and utilities, were rigged and hand-animated to guide viewers through key milestones like installation, meter setup, and daily energy interaction. The visual style uses a soft matte shader for environments, ensuring that the fully colored characters, blue solar panels, and green energy lines pop with high contrast.

A central feature is the dynamic cross-section view of the home, revealing internal rooms and real-time energy behavior. Here, we used Cinema 4D's Physical Renderer for crisp lighting and integrated After Effects with 3D data passes to overlay infographics. Color-coded animated lines (green for solar, blue for grid) visually represent energy flow, while a glowing piggy bank icon serves as a simple metaphor for solar credit accumulation. Technical details like inverter connections and breaker placements were meticulously animated based on MP2's real-world diagrams, ensuring accuracy while maintaining visual clarity.
