What happens when the conversation about masculinity becomes so polarised that people only speak honestly in private?
In this episode of Men on Show, we dive into the mind of Australian author, David Maywald, whose book, 'The Relentless War on Masculinity, Will It Ever End?' (published November 2025) challenges the way modern institutions, media, and culture talk about men and boys — and why so many people feel they can’t speak freely about it.
David shares why he wrote the book after noticing a gap between private conversations and public discourse, and unpacks the themes that drive the debate in Australia vs the UK — from International Men’s Day momentum, to boys’ education, to the way society responds to male victims of intimate partner violence.
You’ll also hear David explain the “four horsewomen of modern feminism” — concepts he believes shape today’s gender conversation — and then bring it back to solutions: practical ways schools and parents can build a boy-positive environment without diminishing support for girls and women.
If you’re a parent, educator, HR leader, or simply someone trying to understand what’s happening in the masculinity conversation without the shouting, this one will make you think.
