Before 2018, photography using cameras was banned at several archaeological monuments under ASI regulations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised a logical and forward-thinking question: “When satellite imagery can capture photos of any place on Earth, why should photography by ordinary visitors be restricted?”
Following his intervention, ASI officially lifted the ban on 13 July 2018.
We strongly believe that if all of us come together and raise our voices again, the Prime Minister will listen once more. The unnecessary photography bans currently imposed at many public places can also be removed soon.
It is time to create equal rules for both mobile and camera photography so that taking pictures is not treated like a crime, but respected as an art and a form of expression.

2018 से पहले भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण (ASI) द्वारा कई ऐतिहासिक स्मारकों पर कैमरा फोटोग्राफी पर प्रतिबंध लगा हुआ था। तब प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी ने बिल्कुल तर्कसंगत सवाल उठाया—जब आज सैटेलाइट से दुनिया की हर जगह की तस्वीर ली जा सकती है, तो फिर आम लोगों द्वारा की जाने वाली फोटोग्राफी पर क्यों रोक होनी चाहिए?
उनके इसी हस्तक्षेप के बाद 13 जुलाई 2018 को ASI ने यह प्रतिबंध आधिकारिक रूप से हटा दिया।
हमें पूरा विश्वास है कि अगर हम सब मिलकर एक बार फिर अपनी आवाज़ उठाएँ, तो प्रधानमंत्री जी इस मुद्दे को फिर से सुनेंगे। और वर्तमान में जो कई सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर कैमरा फोटोग्राफी पर अनावश्यक प्रतिबंध लगाए जा रहे हैं, वे भी जल्द ही खत्म होंगे।
अब समय है कि मोबाइल और कैमरा—दोनों के लिए समान नियम बनें, ताकि फोटोग्राफी को अपराध की तरह न देखा जाए बल्कि कला और अभिव्यक्ति के रूप में सम्मान मिले।
