Monsoon Intensifies in Goa: Tree Falls Reported as IMD Issues Warning

Описание: The monsoon has gained momentum across Goa, bringing heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and thunderstorms within the first two days of active conditions. The state has already recorded nearly three inches of rainfall, marking a strong onset of seasonal weather activity.

Strong winds accompanied by intense showers have led to incidents of tree falls in several parts of the state. In some areas, uprooted trees caused minor disruptions and damage, including impact on two parked vehicles.
While no major injuries have been reported so far, the sudden weather changes have raised concerns among residents, especially in low-lying and tree-lined areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Goa, warning of continued rainfall activity over the next four days. Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy showers, and stay away from weak trees and unstable structures.
Local civic bodies have also been placed on standby to clear fallen trees and ensure road connectivity is not disrupted.
As the monsoon strengthens, Goa is expected to witness intermittent heavy spells along with lightning and gusty winds in the coming days.
