Now the roof is coming on the house. It starts with the roof truss. The roof truss is planned and made to measure for each house by a specialized timber construction company and consists of so-called roof truss elements, hip trusses, fink truss and arris trusses. The carpenters set up all elements exactly according to the manufacturer's instructions and fix them with up to 20 cm long wood screws. The roof shape is a hip roof. Symmetry is typical of the hip roof. Identical-looking roof areas on all four sides, each with the same roof pitch. Here in this case: 24 degrees. There is no upper roof edge, called the ridge. Instead, the roof surfaces converge in a point.
It took one day to build the roof structure. Then the roofers come. They apply a micro-pore membrane, counter battens and roof battens and cover the entire roof with a total of 1200 flat roof tiles.
Now is the time for the traditional topping-out ceremony. Neighbors, workers and friends come together, wish the builders all the best for the future house and celebrate the construction progress together.
