Anji Play is an early childhood approach that you can find at the Westlink Branch Library. It's built on five guiding principles: love, risk, joy, engagement, and reflection.
With Anji Play, kids choose how to play, how to use materials, and how to solve problems. There are no instructions, only possibilities. Instead of toys with one correct way to use them, Anji Play has open-ended materials for creative play including ladders, blocks, cubes, and tubes. These invite creativity. Children are encouraged to test their limits in safe, supported ways. They learn to assess danger, build confidence, and develop resilience. They're not just learning how to balance, climb, or jump. They're learning how to trust themselves. After each play session, children participate in reflection. They draw what they built or experienced and they talk about it. This helps them process, remember, and take pride in their learning.
