Jack Charlton - Thank You For The Days

Описание: Made this as a tribute to the late great Jack Charlton.

I don’t think Ireland was ever happier before or after Italia 90. A nation experienced collective joy like never before and we were all part of Jackie’s army.

I can’t even remember the football but I remember the delight, the hope, the optimism and celebration.

This new “we can” and “will” attitude as we progressed.

Screens getting bigger, crowds getting larger, from a living room to a communal setting and even the people who hated football getting on board.

We were dancing in streets, jumping over walls, railings, climbing up lampposts and god knows what to collectively share in a moment of euphoria as we advanced and raised the flag, shake our inflatable shamrocks, hammers and even bananas.

Nail biting, spirit raising, rebel rousing and shaking the whole tournament up!

We wanted to win the thing but regardless as a nation we had already won the best prize and we let this English man in to out hearts and made him one of our own.

I don’t know if we will ever experience it again but everyone born before 1990 who experienced it, lived it we all know the sheer unbridled happiness, the likes we never felt before. And we all hope to experience it again some day! It was dream like.

We will always be part of Jackie’s army.
