Soup Can And Hose Clamps Repair Car Exhaust Leak

Описание: You can patch your car exhaust using a soup can and some hose clamps in an emergency and drive on. Our Jeep exhaust broke today on the way home and we were sort of stuck. I did not want it to fully break off so we did not dare to drive any further. The O2 sensors are on the exhaust pipe and if it broke off, the wires would be torn out.

All you need to patch up a vehicle exhaust using this method is a tin can and two hose clamps. The only tools needed are a screw driver, tin snips, gloves and a can opener.

Wash and dry your empty soup can. Remove the label. Then remove the bottom of the can, assuming the top is already off.

Next use tin snips to cut the can in half along the weld. This is a dark line somewhere on the can running from top to bottom.

Now put on your gloves and put the can over the break in the exhaust pipe. Center the can over the break.

Use the two hose clamps to tighten the can into place. Put one hose clamp on each side of the break.

Tighten the clamps down firmly but do not over tighten or you can strip out the clamps.

And that is all. You can drive your vehicle again.

This method is meant to get you to the auto repair shop but has been known to last for months before the can burns through.
