RULES:

1. Only Mario may attack, special, appeal, and use items.
2. Mario must always be in the front position.
3. Goombella must be the partner and be in the back positionfor the entire game.
4. Goombella may only defend OR use tattle if an enemy has not yet been tattled upon.
5. Goombella may not be upgraded with shine sprites
6. No badges that impact Goombella's HP or defense may be used.
7. Mario may not use actions to heal Goombella
8. No extra power- or mega rush badges may be obtained that are not available in the main story.
9. Partner moves are allowed OUTSIDE of battle only to get items and activate puzzle mechanics. However, partners may not initiate a first strike.

Rules note: If there is literally no way for Mario to deal damage in a battle without a partner move, then a partner move may be used. This will only go into effect for one enemy group in the entire game.
