BDMLR Assistant Coordinator for North East England Jane Hardy attended this seal pup at Newbiggin. Before being physically caught and checked over, breathing and behaviour are monitored first while keeping a distance to minimise disturbance.
This seal actually looks pretty chilled out as you can see! However it is still in a very public area and vulnerable to disturbance from dogs and passer's by. If you find a seal the best advice is to stay back and keep dogs under control, and if you're concerned for its wellbeing then call our hotline 01825 765546 for advice and help if needed.
