Monterrey was founded in 1596 by Diego de Montemayor. Monterrey became an important business center after the War of Independence. Monterrey is the capital of the state of Nuevo León in Mexico. The city is Located at the foothills of the Sierra Madre Oriental. With 5,4 million it is the second largest city of Mexico after Mexico City (CDMX). Some highlights of the city are the Plaza Lua, the Cerro de la Silla (Mount Saddle), the Puente Atirantado, Fundidora and the Torre de Monterrey.
