What to expect now that the Judge has lifted the gag order in the case against Bryan Kohberger

Описание: Bryan Kohberger, the man who pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the deaths of Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves on Nov. 13, 2022, will be sentenced next week after he accepted a surprise plea agreement.

The plea agreement came weeks before jury selection was set to begin, with the four victims' families reacting differently. Kaylee Goncalves' family was the most vocal in their opposition to the plea deal, stating that the prosecutors and the State of Idaho let them down.

Kohberger admitted to stabbing the four to death inside an off-campus home in the middle of the night. Judge Hippler spoke directly with Kohberger, confirming he understood his rights, what he was admitting to, and asked whether he was pleading guilty because he was, which Kohberger affirmed.

On Thursday, July 17, Hippler ruled at a hearing to lift a non-dissemination order, which had been in place since shortly after Kohberger was first arraigned. Hippler says the order was originally put in place to help seat a non-biased jury. In light of the plea change, the original order no longer serves that purpose.
