北海老街——珠海路是一條有近二百年曆史的老街，始建於1821年，初建時稱為昇平街，只有200米長，4米寬。隨著各歷史時期的不斷發展，現已成為長1.44公里，寬9米，沿街全是中西合璧騎樓式建築的商業老街。
這些建築大多為二至三層，主要受19世紀末葉英、法、德等國在我市建造的領事館等西方卷柱式建築的影響，臨街兩邊牆面的窗頂多為卷拱結構，卷拱外沿及窗柱頂端都有雕飾線，線條流暢、工藝精美。臨街牆面部不同式樣的裝飾和浮雕形成了南北兩組空中雕塑長廊。這些建築臨街的騎樓部分，既是道路向兩側的擴展又是鋪面向外部的延伸。騎樓的方形柱子粗重厚大，頗有古羅馬建築的風格。

Most of these buildings have two to three floors, mainly influenced by the western scroll-style buildings such as the consulates built by Ye Ying, France, Germany and other countries in our city at the end of the 19th century. There are carved lines on the outer edge of the arch and the top of the window column, with smooth lines and exquisite craftsmanship. Different styles of decorations and reliefs on the wall facing the street form two sets of aerial sculpture corridors in the north and south. The arcades of these buildings facing the street are both the extension of the road to both sides and the extension of the pavement to the outside. The square pillars of the arcade are thick and thick, quite in the style of ancient Roman architecture.
