The pond crawler can buff its defense and is a bit of a bulky boy overall however if you have a decent mage it's going down quick. I don't have much to say on this fight it's basically a miniboss with a mini sidequest tied to it. With the reward being opening up the healing spring on the next floor, which you'll really want. In fact this boss is heavily susceptible to every single ailment... including instant death.
