See the foundation of a creature asset come to life! This video shows you the entire process I used to create the fur for this Mouse asset using XGen in Maya.
We'll cover the steps for creating detailed, layered fur:
Layered Grooming: Utilizing multiple XGen Descriptions to control different fur lengths and properties (short facial fur vs. longer body hair).
Controlling Flow: Using guides and the Comb tool to establish the natural direction and flow of the fur across the anatomy.
Refinement: Setting up essential parameters like Taper for sharp tips and to break up uniformity and achieve realism.
The high-poly model was initially made in ZBrush, and the underlying skin texture was painted in Substance Painter.
