If you're getting divorce in British Columbia, you have to file your original Marriage Certificate or Registration of Marriage in court. If your Marriage Certificate is in any language other than English, you also have to file a translation of your Marriage Certificate. Translations are filed using an affidavit of the person who translated the Marriage Certificate.
This video describes how to fill out translators' affidavits for use in British Columbia divorce cases. It provides an explanation of the information that needs to be provided, along with examples of what a finished affidavit should look like. Translators' affidavits provide the court with important information about a marriage, and it's important that they are filled out in the right way to make sure that an application for a divorce order isn't rejected.
