Israelite coronation prayer of a new king in the Davidic dynasty.
Not an offering Hymn
THE TITLE:
1, The title “A Psalm of Solomon”. Can be translated as “A Psalm of David to/about Solomon/ Jesus his Greater Son the Messiah”. Psalm 72:20
2, Psalm 72:20 give clue of David’s. But with the understanding that it refers to the collection of Book Two of Psalms which is separating Book Two from Book Three, with 11 psalms authored by Asaph.
3, Psalm 72 was originally composed: in 1000 BC, probably recited at coronation ceremonies held for King Rehoboam after Solomon died. 1 Kings 11:43; 12:1).
Messianic Psalm:
“The New Testament nowhere quotes it as Messianic, but this picture of the king and his realm is so close to the prophecies of; Isaiah 11:1-5 and Isaiah 60-62.
