Sargada, the Jewel of the Desert, is a city built on water and control. Every drop is sacred, ruled by Emir Ahmad Mansour, who commands both law and life through his grip on the wells. Society is split into five rigid classes: the Untouchables, noble rulers; the Golden, wealthy merchants; the Free, artisans and laborers; the Slaves, bound servants; and the Thirsting—the exiled and dying outside the walls. The city itself forms concentric rings: the First for nobles, the Second for merchants, the Third for commoners, and beyond, the Zarqa, a wasteland where the desperate claw for water. In Sargada, power is measured not in gold, but in how much one can drink.
