ZEDS DEAD - SWEET MEMORIES

Rain arrives softly in Ireland — not as a storm, but as a memory returning.
The sky lowers itself over the fields like a gray wool blanket. Stone walls, older than the stories we tell, darken under the drizzle. Somewhere beyond the mist, the Atlantic breathes against the cliffs, steady and eternal. You walk without an umbrella, because here rain is not weather — it is atmosphere, inheritance, a quiet companion.
In a small village that could be anywhere between Galway and Cork, windows glow amber against the slate afternoon. Inside a pub, glasses hum softly against wooden tables. Laughter rises, warm and defiant. A fiddle begins to play, and the notes feel older than the road outside, older than the names carved into the nearby churchyard stones.
You remember walking once along the edge of the Cliffs of Moher, the wind pulling at your coat, rain stitching sea and sky together until the horizon disappeared. It felt like standing at the edge of something unfinished — a thought, a goodbye, a promise. The ocean below roared not in anger, but in persistence.
Rain gathers in quiet places: on the brim of a cap, in the hollow of a stone step, in the silence between words. It carries the scent of peat smoke and salt. It settles into your hair, your coat, your memory.
And years later, when you hear a distant melody or smell wet earth after a storm, it returns — that Irish afternoon. The gray light. The soft music. The feeling that the world, even blurred by rain, was somehow more vivid, more honest.
In Ireland, memories do not fade.
They linger — like rain on the window, waiting to be noticed again.
