2025年2月27日、午前１０時から京都御所、紫宸殿（ししんでん）東の広場で平安雅楽会によって演奏された雅楽の様子です。舞台が設置されている広場の北には大正時代に建設された春興殿が見えます。2つの演目を合わせると約40分です。１つめの演目は、「打毬楽（たぎゅうらく）」で2つ目が「還城楽（げんじょうらく）」です。

①打毬楽（たぎゅうらく）
4人で舞う雅楽の曲。ゴルフのような遊びが古くから行われ、その型が舞楽として残っている。これは中国で始まり平安朝仁明天皇の御代に伝来したといわれている。人数の変遷を経て現在は4人となっている。

②還城楽（げんじょうらく）
中国の西域に住む胡人（トルコ系と思われる）が好物の蛇を見つけて喜ぶ様を舞にしたもの。唐の時代、玄宗皇帝が戦に勝利し陣営に帰る時に行われた、めでたい舞と言われている。動きが激しく体力が必要とされるが、今年の干支のヘビに因んで演目に選ばれたとのこと。

雅楽（ががく）は、日本の古典音楽の一つで1200年以上の歴史を持ちます。上代以前から伝わる音楽や舞とアジア大陸の諸国からもたらされた音楽や舞が融合して日本化した芸術です。元は、奈良時代にまで遡ります。10世紀頃の平安時代に王朝貴族たちがまとめ直して大まかな形態が成立し、今日まで伝承されています。奈良時代・平安時代から、雅楽の演奏は宮廷は勿論、寺院や神社において盛んに演奏されました。そして1000年以上、京都・奈良・大阪の専門の演奏家によって伝承され続けました。明治時代に宮内庁式部職楽部が創設され雅楽を伝承しています。最近は、民間の雅楽の演奏団体も増えてきています。

雅楽の演奏とは別に生け花や豪華な牛車（ぎっしゃ）も展示され平安時代に思いをはせる事ができました。

This is a gagaku performance by the Heian Gagaku Association at 10:00 a.m. on February 27, 2025, in the square east of the Shishinden (Palace Hall) of the Kyoto Imperial Palace. To the north of the square where the stage is located, you can see the Shunkoden, which was built in the Taisho era. The two performances together last about 40 minutes. The first performance is "Tagyuraku" and the second is "Genjoraku."

① Tagyuraku
A gagaku piece danced by four people. A game similar to golf has been played since ancient times, and its form remains as bugaku. It is said that this started in China and was introduced during the reign of Emperor Ninmyo in the Heian period. After changes in the number of people, it is now four.

② Genjoraku
A dance depicting the joy of a Hu person (thought to be of Turkish descent) living in the western region of China finding a snake, his favorite food. It is said to be a celebratory dance performed during the Tang Dynasty when Emperor Xuanzong returned to his camp after a victorious battle. The intense movements require physical strength, but it was chosen because this year's zodiac sign is the snake.

Gagaku is a form of classical Japanese music with a history of over 1200 years. It is an art form that was Japanized by fusing music and dances from pre-modern times with music and dances from countries on the Asian continent. It originally dates back to the Nara period. Around the 10th century, during the Heian period, the aristocrats of the dynasty reorganized it and the rough form was established, and it has been passed down to the present day. From the Nara and Heian periods, gagaku was actively performed not only at the imperial court, but also at temples and shrines. It has been passed down for over 1000 years by professional performers in Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka. During the Meiji period, the Imperial Household Agency's Shikibusho Music Department was established to pass down gagaku. Recently, the number of private gagaku performance groups has been increasing.

In addition to the gagaku music, there were also flower arrangements and gorgeous ox carriages on display, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the Heian period.
