This contemporary hymn was composed by a Sydney composer (Christian Walter John Catsanos) for passiontide (I think probably specifically Good Friday).
The tune's name WAITARA seems to follow a tradition of naming for the place where it was composed or that is somehow signficant to the composer. In this case, Waitara refers to the suburb where Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral is located (the seat of the Bishop of Broken Bay) - which is presumably where the composer hails from.
The Diocese of Broken Bay is relatively young (dating back to the mid/late 80s), and it wasn't until even later that Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral was consecrated as Cathedral (the Church itself predates the Diocese, as far as I can tell).
Here I am playing this tune having never heard it, and having only tried it a handful of times - there's a few mistakes, and the timing might be a bit off in places. However I will continue to work on it, and it may appear on this channel again (possibly for Good Friday).
Below are the words that go with this tune:
All hail to Thee, who for our sake
great agony didst undertake;
for fallen mortal men of sin
Thou hadst been pain'd for life to win.
Such was the Father's holy will,
which Thou didst on this day fulfil;
for Thou didst pay, to win our loss,
redemption's price upon The Cross.
And this, Thy dreadful agony,
since Thou didst love most perfectly,
doth take away from sin's rude pain,
and doth the grace of freedom gain.
And so, since Thou hadst such great love,
we raise our strains to Thee above;
both now and through the length of days,
With heartfelt love we sing Thy praise.
