Support is provided by parenchyma cells in herbaceous plants, collenchyma cells in young plants and sclerenchyma cells in mature adult plants.

Parenchyma cells provide support by availing turgor pressure.

Collenchyma cells have primary walls and angular thickening.

Sclerenchyma cells are dead cells have lignified secondary walls.

In animals bones, cartilage and muscles are present for support.
