In today's world, device ownership, Wi-Fi access, and digital literacy skills have become essential for equitable access to the English language classroom. Many adult ELLs face barriers such as transportation, shift work, and childcare, preventing access to in-person learning opportunities, while a lack of hardware operations and digital literacy skills similarly prevent access to the remote classroom. By integrating comprehensive support structures for distance learning and employing a scaffolded approach to digital literacy and hardware skills development, programs can enable low-NRS-level ELLs to achieve EFL gains and maintain retention. Such an approach allows programs to more effectively address the diverse language and literacy
needs of the immigrant community while equipping them for economic stability and community access.
