This demonstrator was developed to deepen our understanding of meter‑scale PBF‑LB, exploring key technical areas such as:
Multi‑laser strategies on a single, large part
Real‑world distortion vs. simulation prediction
Depowdering challenges on metre‑scale builds
Post‑processing requirements for large AM components
Iterative design optimisation at industrial scale
This project forms part of an MTC Core Research Programme, delivered in collaboration with our members. The insights gained from this build are helping shape the future of large‑format additive manufacturing in the UK.
