The Rappahannock River was named one of the Most Endangered Rivers of 2025 by American Rivers. The Rappahannock River is under threat as groundwater supplies decline and demand for surface water grows from industrial and residential usage.
You will hear how partners are coming together to protect the river as increased strain on water resources and the absence of unified water management threaten the river’s ability to meet the needs of both people and nature.
Brent Hunsinger serves as Advocacy and Coastal Programs Director at Friends of the Rappahannock (FOR). He has worked at FOR for 9 years and manages state/local policy and restoration/outreach programs in the tidal region (Fredericksburg to the Chesapeake Bay). In his free time he enjoys roaming the forests and wetlands (especially in winter) and fishing for striped bass.
