Sidney is a first-time animator whose debut short film reflects a meticulous, deeply personal approach to the craft. Production began in the summer of 2024, when she undertook the ambitious choice to tell her story through rotoscoping, a technique rooted in patience, observation, and performance. Working in Adobe Photoshop’s Motion Workspace and drawing directly on a Wacom Cintiq 21UX, Sidney filmed herself acting each moment of the narrative, supplementing her performances with carefully selected b-roll to enrich the visual language of the film.

From the fall of 2024 through the summer of 2025, the project evolved alongside her growth as an artist. Transitioning to a Wacom Cintiq 16, Sidney refined her workflow and deepened the emotional precision of the animation, frame by frame. By the winter and spring of 2025, all rotoscope animation was completed, allowing her to focus on tone, texture, and detail, subtle elements that give the film its quiet power and intimacy.

During this phase, fellow animation student Kaedan Newsome contributed an original music sample, shaping the emotional undercurrent of the film and further unifying its visual and narrative voice. In 2026, the project entered its final stage of post-production, with audio recordings, sound design, and final edits bringing the film to completion.

What began as a first experiment in animation emerged as a fully realized work of authorship, one that blends performance, illustration, and personal storytelling into a singular cinematic vision.
