The Jagannath Temple of Koraput, popularly known as Sabara Srikhetra of Odisha is situated on a hill top. The name Sabara Srikhetra is given to the place because it was built by the Sabaras (Tribes) of Koraput. There is no restriction to enter into the shrine temple for anybody. It demonstrates the very concept of Jagannath consciousness.

The model of Jagannath Temple at Koraput is almost similar to that of Original at Puri. A due care has taken while making the temple to look similar to that of Original Temple at Puri. There are twenty-two steps from the Entrance Door to the Main Door of the Temple which is similar to that of Puri. Avada (Prasada) selling centre known as "Ananda Bazar" is also created just at the back side of the temple, where one can get Avada and other prasada between 12pm to 3pm. A museum of group of small temples are also there in front of the south door of the temple comprising incarnations of Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi, Bimala, and others. The walls of the temple near Anand Bazar are filled with the informations regarding the famous personalities of Odisha. Swarga Dwara is also there at the North door of the temple.

The surrounding environment of the temple is so peaceful, that one can forget all the sorrows of life for some moment.


How to Reach Sabara Srikhetra

The place can be reached both by train and bus.

Koraput railway station is the nearest railway station. It is very nearer to the place.

Koraput is connected with National Highway so it is very easy to reach here by bus. One can reach here by bus via Vijayanagaram and Rayagada. Rayagada is just about 100 km away from Koraput.

Berhampur is about 350 Km, Bhubaneswar 520 Km away from Sabara Srikhetra.
