9 Munros in 1 Day The Forcan & Glen Shiel Ridge

Описание: Challenge #3 sees us take on the Forcan and Glen Shiel Ridges. Formidable challenges by themselves but added together makes for a special kind of day.

5 - Sgùrr an Noire Leathain 1010m
6 - Maol Chin-Dearg 981m
7 - Aonach Air Chrith 1021m
8 - Drum Shionnach 987m
9 - Creag a'Mhaim 947m

The Forcan ridge and The Saddle were very enjoyable. Great technical hiking, even if the weather was against us. The 10m down climb at the Easter Butress is not for the faint of heart and should really only be attempted if you have true confidence in your abilities.

Working from Sgùrr na Shine to Creag nan Dam is HARD. Hard to navigate and hard terrain. There's no two ways about it.

The Glen Shiel Ridge is long but enjoyable. Once at the main ascent of Creag nan Daimh I don't see why you couldn't hit a Minor an hour.

The descent. Initially the going is a little rough and can be boggy in places. It' fairly easy to follow and you'll hit the road before you know it. You'll still have nearly 7km to go once you hit the road! Take a pair of trainers, it'll pay off when the road walking kicks in.

Overall, would I recommend doing this route? No! Individually the Forcan and Glen Shiel ridges are amazing and I'd urge people to attempt them separately to get the most out of their day.
