Environment Canada has issued widespread yellow warnings across multiple provinces from Alberta to the Atlantic coast on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Yellow Warnings Active: Alberta to Atlantic Provinces - Extreme Cold and Heavy Snow
Millions of Canadians face a dangerous multi-day extreme cold outbreak with wind chills plunging to -40°C to -45°C across Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec.
Labrador remains under an orange alert with wind chills approaching -50°C where frostbite can develop within minutes. Heavy snow squalls are battering Ontario with 15-25cm accumulations and near-zero visibility during morning rush hour.
Newfoundland and Nova Scotia face winter storm conditions with strong winds gusting to 80km/h and blowing snow.
The severe weather continues through Wednesday with hazardous travel conditions, road closures possible, and significant impacts on commuters across Toronto, Halifax, Moncton, and other major cities.
