In this video, Thulani Fakude, an Occupational Therapist at Mosvold Hospital in Ingwavuma, KwaZulu Natal talks about what his job entails and the subject requirements to enter this Health Sciences field.
The Umthombo Youth Development Foundation seeks to address the shortages of healthcare staff at rural hospitals through the investment in rural youth. In return for the opportunity given these youth, they are required on graduation to work at a rural hospital for at least the same number of years they were supported for. In this regard, over 385 health science graduates, of which 133 are Doctors have been produced over the last 20 years. In this series of short videos featuring some of our graduates, we endeavour to make school learners aware of health sciences as career options, and encourage them to apply to the National Student Financial Aid Scheme for financial support for their studies.
