Cameron Mitchell, or Cam is the current leader of SG-1, since 2005, taking command from Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter.
He was a talented United States Air Force pilot.
Given the callsign "Shaft", Mitchell flew an X302, leading the Tau'ri forces in the Battle of Antarctica in 2004.
After making a full recovery, he requested to join SG-1, only to discover the other members, Carter, Teal'c and Dr. Daniel Jackson, had all left the unit to follow different paths. However, after a few months, he got the team back together. For most of his time as commander of SG-1, he fought the Ori.
He started with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
He was promoted to full-bird colonel in 2008 and continues leading SG-1 to this day, Mitchell's leadership style being where everyone involved participates to the fullest of their abilities.
