This early 1900s gold and silver mine lies at the base of scenic Bonanza Mountain in Rhyolite, Nevada. We entered the mine through a traditionally shaped portal to find an old wooden door laying on the floor. Just past that was a more modern steel door with a clever locking system on it. It happened to be unlocked, so we entered the adit. We explored several interesting drifts that followed mineral veins in various directions off the main adit. There are also some interesting stopes and timbering here. We came across a couple of sets of ladders going down shafts. The first one was not vertical, so it was easy to climb. The second shaft was longer, and the ladders went vertical. Not knowing the condition of the ladders, we set up a rope so we could safely descend the shaft. After checking out the shafts, we headed back outside. Thanks for watching, and we hope you enjoy the video.
