Influencer Shelby Whitaker’s Foster Mom Journey is going viral for all the wrong reasons.
She and her husband have been struggling with infertility for over 5 years and have taken people on their fertility journey the last couple of years. Now a couple months ago they decided to become foster parents and have been recording their journey with the foster care system. From throwing themselfs a babyshower, the nursery, the 'hot dad walk from the hospital' and their desires to become parents. It’s raising a lot of questions in the foster community about if those who struggle with infertility should even be allowed to foster. What could have been a lovely foster care journey is being overshadowed by the impression that they are using foster care (and by extention foster children) as placeholders for infertility what should never be the case.
As someone who also suffers from infertility and who is also a foster parent i decided I give my thoughts about this entire process.
