BMW V8 STAR - Very Rare 6.2L LS3-Powered Race Car Roaring at Zandvoort & Spa!

Описание: When I first saw this car I was confused why it was called the V8 STAR until I discovered STAR was a very cool but short-lived racing series from Germany. It was essentially a German version of Trans-Am (TA2 specifcally) with tubular chassis, silhouette cars all powered by the same 5.7L Roush V8 engines. The cars were identical apart from the silhouette bodies in the shape of everyday saloon cars such as the Audi A6, BMW 5-Series, Ford Mondeo, Jaguar S-Type, Lexus GS, Opel Omega and Volkswagen Passat. The series ran from 2001 to 2003, spanning 3 seasons. From the 2002 season onwards, power was increased from 450hp to 495. That power in a car weighing only 1295kg (2850 lbs), with independent double wishbone suspension front and rear and a six-speed Holinger sequential gearbox, made for some rather impressive performance.

This particular car was one of the handful of V8 STAR's rocking a ''BMW 5-series'' body and it is believed to quite possibly be the only survivor. After the series fell at the end of the 2003 season, the car saw action in the VLN series for a few years where it was upgraded with traction control, ABS and an improved aero package. The engine was also replaced and today it's powered by a 6.2L LS engine producing 560 horsepower and 700Nm of torque.
