Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this pre-greased trailer idler hub for 6,000 pound trailer axles with the number 42 spindles. Has a six on 5 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now this trailer hub assembly fits the trailer idler axles. And when we say idler axles, what those are is that would be with no brakes, such as has the idler hub on it. This is a pre-greased hub.

It's very easy to install. There's no need to pack the bearings with grease 'cause it'll come already greased with lithium complex multipurpose grease. You can see how they got it sealed on the outside here. If you turn it around, they got the seal here. So when you go to install this, you just pull these off and everything in there will be pre-greased.

You just slide it onto your spindle, tighten it down, and you're all ready to go. It will include everything shown here on the table. The pre-greased, inner and outer bearings are all on the inside. The bearing races are pre-installed. They do even install on the back here the grease seal, so you don't even have to worry about installing that.

And it does come with the two grease caps. One's a standard cap, and the other's an easy lube cap for the easy lube axles. It does also come with six 1/2 inch by 20 size lug nuts. Now the bearings, the races, and the seal part numbers are all listed on this product page if you do need those. And we mentioned about this cap being for an easy lube axle.

An easy lube axle is one of those that would have a spindle on it that has a grease Zerk fitting on the end, and what that allows you to do is pump grease into the spindle and that'll lubricate the bearings. So it saves you the time and effort of having to disassemble the hub, pull out all the bearings, grease 'em, put 'em all back in. An easy lube axle allows you to just put it all together, pump grease in through that Zerk fitting and you're ready to go. So you do need the cap that has the rubber plug in the center. You just pull that rubber black rubber plug out. That gives you access to that Zerk fitting with your grease gun. Now it is a sturdy iron construction, has a zinc enriched paint on it for durability. It is QAI and CSA certified. Again, the application, this will fit 6,000 pound trailer axles with the number 42 spindles. It is compatible with standard axles for most manufacturers, including Dexter, Lippert, and AL-KO. The wheels that'll fit on this is anywhere from 14 1/2 inch up to 16 1/2 inch sized wheels. The bolt pattern we mentioned is a six on 5 1/2 inch. The stud size of the wheel studs is 1/2 inch diameter and the weight capacity on this hub is 3000 pounds. So when this is used with one on the other side of the axle, it will meet the 6,000 pound capacity of the axle.
