Come join me and Alexa as we voyage on the Pest side of the Dunakanyar aka the Danube bend. This is a lovely day of adventure through the pastels of downtown Vác and amongst the wild river banks of Nagymaros.

We only had time for part one of the Hunyadi story this time around. This episode is all about Hunyadi János and how he was able to rise to power following successful marauding in the Balkans. It was due to his brave comandeering that the Hungarians we're able to hold out as long as they did against the Ottoman's. And he paved the way for his more famous son, Mátyás, to eventually take the Hungarian crown.

This installment ends prior to the historic Battle of Nándorfehérvár in 1456. We will cover that next time along with the martyrdom of Hunyadi László and Mátyás' rise to power.

That will come at a later date, however, for next week Alexa and myself are embarking on our own long campaign on a circular route through the western half of Magyarország. Bikal, Pécs, Sopron, Kőszeg and Balatonfüred are all on our route so please write to me if you have any suggestions!
