Latest AR glasses and AI that can read people's emotions

A system that recognises emotion in people's voices, new augmented reality glasses, and a thermal therapy face mask for when you need to get away from all the technology are on show at MWC 19 in Spain.
The 'Showstoppers' event is a chance for smaller companies and start-ups to show their products outside the main events driven by the bigger brands in town like Huawei and Sony.
STORYLINE
It is that time of the year when Barcelona becomes the global hot spot for new technology.
The annual MWC mobile trade fair has unofficially opened in the Spanish city ahead of the official opening tomorrow.
One of the first events on media day is the Showstoppers conference where start-ups and small companies get a chance to show their products and platforms.
For several years AI, or artificial intelligence have been buzzwords here.
And 2019 is no exception. Japanese company Empathy Inc is showing its AI system that can recognise the emotions of the person speaking.
It can be used by call centers to gauge customers' true feelings, or in therapy sessions.
"So we developed Emphis which is an emotion AI (Artificial Intelligence) that can identify human emotion from the voice in real time regardless of the language," says  Hazumu Yamazaki, founder of 'Empathy Inc.'
New York state-based augmented reality company Vuzix is showing off its latest Blade augmented reality glasses.
The glasses have had an updated design, making them look more like regular glasses.
The screens can show information, such as directions and maps or google search results directly in front of the user's eyes.
To most people Augmented Reality glasses bring back memories of the much-hyped and ultimately failed Google glass project.
But, according to Vuzix director of sales, the constant improvement in the technology means that AR glasses might be making a comeback.
Japanese company Aquabit Spirals is showing the chips that use NFC (Near Field Communication) to direct smartphones to ULR webpages.
One staff member of Aquabit Spirals has a chip under the skin in his hand, when he taps the phone it brings up requested information.
But mostly the chips will be used in so called Smart Plates, IoT connected plates that can deliver digital content from physical things to smart phones, when people tap them with their phone.
Oral-B is showing a connected toothbrush that gives users instructions on better dental health.
But sometimes there is just too much technology, and then visitors to Showstoppers can head over to the Umay Care stall.
The company is showing a thermal therapy facemask that it claims uses vibrations and heat to rejuvenate tired eyes after a day of staring at screens.
"What we found is that when people look in to screens at such a significant part of their day, there is an increase in stress and poor sleep. So we integrated a thermal meditation which guides the user through a relaxation breath four times during the cycle to help promote a more relaxed and restful sleep," says Sharmin Habib, co-founder of Umay Care
MWC (formerly known as Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona is the world's largest mobile focused trade fair.
More than 100,000 people are expected to visit the show and some 2,400 exhibitors will be unveiling their latest products.
MWC runs until February 28.
