A common foundation system we use across a wide range of projects is augercast piles, also known as CFA (Continuous Flight Auger) piles. While final designs vary in size, length, cage configuration, technology, and testing methods, the construction process follows a consistent approach:
Using a vertical drill rig, we drill into the ground with a continuous, hollow-stem auger. Once we reach the target depth, concrete is pumped through the stem as the auger is withdrawn, forming a solid, seamless concrete column below ground. As the auger is extracted, a steel rebar cage is lowered into the shaft and set in place.
Unlike traditional pile driving, CFA piles are faster to install and significantly reduce noise and vibration. They’re ideal for tight-access sites, urban environments, and sensitive locations—like hospitals.
At Adventist Health in Tillamook, augercast piles allowed us to support a critical healthcare facility expansion without disrupting daily operations. We kept noise low, maintained a clean site, and delivered the strength the project needed.
At Pacific Foundation, we evaluate every site independently to design the most effective, efficient solution for the job. If you're exploring deep foundation options, we’d love to talk!
