Whilst I consider the ultimate foundation in Prepping & Survival along with learning skills is having a "Prepper Mindset", in terms of physical items the EDC is the foundation the Baseline or Line 1.
Having a robust and adaptable Everyday Carry both enables the carrying out of daily tasks and sets the foundation to build set-ups above this such at "Get Home Bags" and "Bug Out Bags". A modular EDC allows adaptability of this and integration with other prepper set-ups.
Every EDC is individual and according to individual requirements. Although there are no hard and fast rules there are some principles. As always, it's not about rights and wrongs just Options and choices.
