On December 7, 2013, Reading & Northern 4-6-2 #425 took to the rails once again. As a a part of a local Christmas festival held in the city of Tamaqua, PA, the Reading & Northern Railroad operated steam-powered Santa trains out of Tamaqua, led by Engine #425. Passenger boarded at the historic Tamaqua Railroad Station, built in 1874, and then went on an excursion to New Ringgold for the 11:00 AM trip, and the Hometown Trestle for the 1:00 and 3:00 PM trips. We will start out in Port Clinton, as the consist is prepared and #425 is serviced. We will then begin our chase at Molino, PA, as the ferry move to Tamaqua passes us with #425 in the lead! After he arrival in Tamaqua, we will chase all three trips! A special thank-you goes out to the management at the R&N, and the crew of #425. Thank you for making these awesome trips possible. Enjoy!
