In October 2020, BLACKFISH GALLERY (Portland, Oregon) will present the "Be About Love VIRTUAL Festival," featuring curated musical acts in jazz, blues, and original indie music, and includes performance art, theater, poetry, and dance. A group art exhibition during the month of October at Blackfish Gallery will present juried and members’ works of visual art, and serve as a thematic backdrop to our festival; the exhibition can be enjoyed through a virtual tour of the gallery space, and each artwork will be featured in high res on the gallery website (www.blackfish.com). The festival includes performances ranging from concerts accessible to all ages, to works specifically for children and families, to those for mature audiences. This programming takes its inspiration from such figures as Gandhi, Dr. King, Coretta Scott King, Nelson Mandela, César Chávez, Delores Huerta, Mr. Rogers, Greta Thunberg, Jane Goodall, Mother Theresa, and many others. Blackfish Gallery encourages invoking these and others from the international arts scene in a call to loving arms on behalf of an urgently felt need to present works that celebrate all love.
NOTE: Audio samples and PR images used to create this montage sampler were extracted from the artists' websites and posted video links, with artists' permission. Any money raised through grants or foundations or patrons or ticket money at the festival goes to the festival performers and festival and exhibition production costs. Blackfish Gallery is a not-for-profit community organization.
