A powerful storm system triggered widespread flooding across Southern California on Monday, prompting officials to warn of potential mud and debris flows in areas recently burned by wildfires.
The storm, which is moving east toward Arizona, caused significant urban flooding in several parts of Los Angeles. In addition to the heavy rain, the system is dropping substantial snow at higher elevations.
The Sierra Nevada is bracing for up to 8 feet of snow as the Golden State remains under winter weather alerts.
