What does it truly mean to flourish — and what helps people thrive no matter where they live, what they’ve been through, or what challenges they face? In this keynote message from CAFO2025, Baylor University professor and Global Flourishing Study co-author Byron Johnson shares groundbreaking research from one of the largest well-being studies ever conducted.
The Global Flourishing Study, led by Harvard and Baylor, surveyed more than 200,000 people across six continents and 40 languages to better understand what drives human flourishing. The research explores key areas like physical and mental health, relationships, character and financial security — and it reveals surprising patterns around the world.
One of the clearest findings? Regular attendance at religious services is strongly associated with flourishing across all domains. This message is both data-driven and deeply hopeful — reminding us that flourishing isn’t just individual, but communal… and that faith plays a powerful role in helping people thrive, even in the hardest places.
CAFO unites an alliance in shared initiatives that inspire and equip God's people to care effectively for vulnerable children and families, rooted always in Christian discipleship and the life of the local church.
