Monitoring Great Green Macaw nests is what the breeding season is all about for our Field Team in Sarapiquí, in Northern Costa Rica. These long, exhausting days are filled with the satisfaction of seeing more breeding pairs with healthy chicks on their journey to fledging inhabit these lands.
In this video, our Field Team Leader, Mario, explains to you the monitoring process.
Eggs and young chicks are extremely fragile to external factors such as predators and lack of experience from the parents, and when they fledge, they risk crashing to the ground. You can support these chicks by symbolically adopting Walt through our Adoption Program. By Adopting Walt, you will support the monitoring and protection of wild Great Green Macaw chicks.
